The Discipline
On a renewable energy project the generation equipment comes from the technology supplier. What is left is a civil engineering contract: platform earthworks over a large footprint, several hundred foundations built to tight tolerance, access roads that carry abnormal loads, cable trenching, hardstands and the water infrastructure that keeps the site operating.
That is the daily business of our civils and water teams. Mass earthworks, heavy foundations, haul and access roads, hardstands, trenching and reservoirs are what Unicon has been building since 1991, and they are the same operations a balance-of-plant package is assembled from.

Who We Build For
Method
Foundation quantities on a generation site are driven by ground conditions across a large footprint. The geotechnical picture is verified before the foundation method is fixed.
Several hundred near-identical foundations is a production problem. The gain is in the jig, the sequence and the survey control, not in working faster.
Access roads and hardstands are built early, to carry the heaviest delivery on the project, because everything else depends on them.
Tolerances, setting-out and handover of foundations are agreed with the equipment supplier in writing before the first pour.
Local labour and enterprise obligations are met with real packages and real support on site, the way we already work on municipal contracts.
Capacity
We self-perform the work that carries the risk and subcontract the rest to an approved vendor list. What follows is the plant and capability this discipline draws on.
