Historical Chronology
Founded by entrepreneur Tony Nott, Unicon Construction began its journey with a strong community focus, specializing in the construction of rural government clinics, critical healthcare facilities, and essential earthworks across KwaZulu-Natal.
Unicon achieved major success executing complex commercial and healthcare infrastructure, including the massive Invesco Shopping Centre. This era cemented our reputation for handling logistically challenging, large-scale structures and massive portal frame buildings.
Recognizing a critical market opportunity, Unicon invested heavily in an in-house design office. This pivotal move allowed us to pioneer Design and Build (Turnkey) methods, providing clients with unified responsibility, lower design fees, and highly cost-effective solutions.
Our expertise naturally evolved into heavy civil engineering. We established specialized systems—dominating the sector in water retaining structures, massive bridge spans, 40ML+ reservoirs, and highly technical water treatment plants.
Today, operating as a Level 2 (51% Black-Owned) B-BBEE contributor, Unicon is fully BIM compliant. We deploy cutting-edge digital twins, drone Lidar scanning, and advanced spatial computing across complex sites throughout the MEA region.
