Mastering the Unsupported Dome

A hallmark of a modern Unicon reservoir is the unsupported concrete dome roof. In traditional construction, large roofs require internal supporting columns. However, internal columns in a water reservoir create weak points in the floor slab and complicate the waterproofing process.

By engineering a perfect, free-spanning curved dome, we eliminate the need for internal columns. This is achieved through highly complex, custom-fabricated steel shuttering and a continuous, synchronized concrete pour that requires our teams to work seamlessly, often late into the night, to prevent cold joints.

The result is a monolithic, hyper-resilient structure that protects the municipal or agricultural water supply from contamination, evaporation, and structural fatigue.
