Thabazimbi 10ML Reservoir
Post-tensioned walls and a free-spanning dome roof with no column supports.
Since 1991, Unicon Construction has been more than a heavy civil engineering firm. Operating across key regions like KwaZulu-Natal (Durban, Hilton) and Gauteng (Johannesburg), we are a dedicated team building the critical infrastructure, water networks, and communities that move our nation forward.

separate contracts awarded to us by UGU District Municipality alone.
Repeat appointments are the measure we pay most attention to. Clients who have seen how we run a site come back — and in bulk water, where a leak is a failure, that is the reference that matters.

Our Heritage
We did not achieve three and a half decades of sustained growth by accident. We achieved it through uncompromising quality, hard work in hostile terrains, and fiercely protecting the men and women on our sites.
Read Our Full HistoryFounded by Tony Nott in 1991, our very first projects were deeply rooted in rural KwaZulu-Natal. By building desperately needed government clinics and educational campuses, we established a foundational commitment to community upliftment and zero-failure execution.
As our operational capacity grew, so did the scale of our impact. We transitioned into complex municipal infrastructure—dominating the sector in multi-span provincial bridges, highway embankments, and massive cut-to-fill earthworks utilizing our own internal plant fleet.
Today, Unicon is widely recognized across Southern Africa as a premier contractor for liquid-retaining structures. We execute massive 40-megalitre (40,000,000 liters) post-tensioned concrete reservoirs and highly complex wastewater treatment plants.
These mega-structures require absolute mastery of structural engineering. Our proprietary cast-in tie systems and advanced concrete shuttering techniques guarantee zero-leakage tolerances—securing clean, safe water for generations to come.
Recognizing the inherent delays in traditional construction models, we brought architectural and engineering design in-house. This allowed us to pioneer Design & Build (Turnkey) solutions for commercial and agricultural developers.
By integrating our structural engineers with our site agents from day one, we eliminate technical friction. Every blueprint is rigorously tested for real-world constructability before our heavy machinery even arrives on site.
